How Backpack Tutor works
Send the tutor what comes home in the backpack, and it builds practice that fits your child. Everything starts in the chat on your child's page.
- 1. Send everything that comes home
Homework, graded tests, handouts, teacher emails, school notices. Photos, PDFs, and Word files all work. For emails, take a screenshot or paste the text into the chat.
Why it helps: What the teacher stressed in class and what your child actually missed can't be learned from a textbook alone.
- 2. Tell the tutor the test date and scope
One line is enough: "Math test on Oct 20, Unit 3." If there's a scope notice, send a photo.
Why it helps: The tutor orders the practice by what matters most before the test date.
- 3. Scan the textbook you own
If you have the school textbook or workbook, scan the pages for the unit. The tutor writes practice in that book's wording and problem style. No school book? Buy a workbook you'd like your child to practice from and scan it.
Why it helps: Practice in familiar terms and formats means less confusion on test day.
- 4. Have your child do the practice, then send it back
Practice sheets appear under Materials > Made by the tutor. Print, let your child solve, and send a photo. The tutor grades it and marks which old mistakes are now fixed.
Why it helps: Mistake, practice, retry: the record shows what is really fixed.
Upload only textbooks, workbooks, and tests you bought or received from school, for your own family's learning. What you upload is visible only to your family and is never shared or sold.
- One page per photo, taken from above so the writing is clear.
- Attach several photos at once, or combine pages into one PDF.
- Accepted: photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC), PDF, Word (.docx)
- Invite family under Account > Family & sharing so your partner or your child can see the same record.
